The East Delhi Riders have emerged victorious in the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), which took place in New Delhi.
After a dramatic final that took place on Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, the squad that was managed by Himmat Singh emerged victorious by a score of three runs over South Delhi Super Stars.
As they attempted to reach the objective of 184 runs, the South Delhi side was unable to score four runs in the final two balls, and as a result, they were unable to win the championship.
The final was very exciting
There was a lot of excitement surrounding the final match of the Delhi Premier League 2024. After the East Delhi side batted first, they made 183 runs despite losing five wickets in the twenty overs that were allotted to them.
Mayank Rawat had an outstanding performance with the bat for the club. He played a stormy innings that resulted in 78 runs to be scored with the assistance of seven fours and six sixes against 39 balls.
In this league, South Delhi was performing exceptionally well. There was a widespread belief that they would attempt to chase the target of 184 runs that East Delhi had set for them in the final match.
On the other hand, Ayush Badoni’s side was unable to achieve the aim during the championship match, and they ended up falling three runs short of the target.
Ayush Badoni disappointed with the ball and bat
Despite the fact that South Delhi captain Ayush Badoni had been a standout during the entire competition, he was unsuccessful in the championship match. During the championship match, Badoni was dismissed after just scoring seven runs.
In addition to this, his bowling was also a contributing factor in the team’s loss because of it. Mayank Rawat smashed five sixes in Badoni’s over, which was the last over, and as a result, East Delhi was able to reach the high score of 183 runs. Badoni came to bowl the final over.
