  • A series of weekend shootings and stabbings in Denver resulted in one fatality and six injuries, according to authorities.
  • Spokesman for the Commerce City Police Department Joanna Small called the rapidly growing municipality, home to roughly 70,000 people, just northeast of Denver close to the city’s airport, “an incredibly violent weekend.”

She stated, “We probably have five or six homicides a year on average.” “In 39 hours, we’re talking about four killings and one critically injured person… It’s actually even more puzzling because the crimes had nothing to do with one another. The shootings’ possible causes were kept a secret.

The first occurred on Friday night in a Commerce City 7-Eleven convenience store parking lot. After the man and the woman were shot, the man passed away. As of Sunday morning, the woman was still in critical condition at the hospital, according to Small.

  • A man who was operating a truck involved in the shooting eluded officers when they attempted to speak with him later; on Sunday morning, he was discovered dead by suicide.
  • A guy was shot and killed on Saturday night in the parking lot of a Commerce City public park featuring a swimming pool. A person was placed under arrest, but Small would not provide more information.

Later that evening, the gunshot monitoring system in Commerce City picked up gunfire during a shootout, to which officers reacted. Authorities say that the cops came into a stolen car that had three occupants who had escaped and crashed later. Inside the car, a man passenger with a gunshot wound was discovered dead.

Following the collision, the driver and a second passenger suffered injuries and were hospitalized. A man who had been shot and killed was discovered in a home’s yard by officers who had returned to the scene of the gunfight, according to Small.

She claimed it was thought that the victims and others involved in that case were minors.

According to Small, there was no known connection between the shootings that occurred in the residential neighborhood, the park, and the convenience store. She declined to provide any information, stating that inquiries were still ongoing.

Around two in the morning, according to authorities, a nightclub parking lot saw the deadly gunfire in Aurora. Not all the deceased’s details were made public right away. According to authorities, a second victim, a 34-year-old guy, was shot several times but managed to get to the hospital on his own and was anticipated to live. There had been no arrests.
