Due to an injury, star Indian wicket-keeper hitter Ishan Kishan missed the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. However, he shocked everyone by playing for India C in the second round.
Last week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the updated squads for the Duleep Trophy. Ishan was not named in any of them, so this was a surprise showing. In the first round, he was put on Team D, but he got hurt and had to drop out. Sanju Samson took his place.
The news said that Ishan couldn’t play in the first game because he was hurt. Another thing that was said was that he might not be in the game. When the BCCI updated the group for the second round of the Duleep Trophy two days ago, Ishan Kishan’s name was not on it either.

However, Ishan was added to the India C team led by Rituraj Gaikwad just before the second round started on Thursday. For the game against India B, he came in for Aryan Juyal.
It was clear from BCCI that Ishan Kishan would not be able to play in the first round match because he was hurt. It was said that Ishan got hurt while playing in the Buchi Babu event. In Buchi Babu, Ishan Kishan played in two games.
He made 114 runs in the first game against Madhya Pradesh and was still unbeaten after 41 runs. At the same time, he did badly in both of his games in the second match against Hyderabad. He only got 1 and 5 runs in the second game. Ishan is now concentrating on red ball cricket only.
