Japanese Style Triple Seared Steak Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) center-cut filet mignon, fully trimmed
- 1 teaspoon avocado oil or other high heat oil
- 3 tablespoons coarse sea salt, or as needed
- 1/3 cup Japanese whiskey, or other bourbon or rye whiskey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions
In order to begin the process of triple-searing, you must first construct a very hot charcoal fire using hardwood. Oak, mesquite, and hickory are all excellent material options.
Prior to the meat being placed on the grill, the coals ought to be emitting an intense amount of heat and producing a crimson glow. Apply oil to the entire surface of the steak. Apply a layer of sea salt to the entire surface area until it is thoroughly covered.
Using a shallow bowl, pour the whiskey, and then set it away. To sear the steak, place it on the hottest part of the grill and cook it for approximately two and a half minutes on each side.
After transferring the steak into the bowl containing the whiskey, flip it often for at least one minute. The majority of the salt will be removed by rinsing.
Again sear both sides of the steak for approximately two and a half minutes on each side after placing it back on the grill in the most efficient position.

When you are ready for the third and final sear, return the steak to the hottest location on the grill. On both sides, grill for approximately two and a half minutes, or until the desired level of doneness is obtained.
When an instant-read thermometer put toward the center of the cake reads 118 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (48 to 50 degrees Celsius), remove the cake that has a rosy-pink interior.
Allow the steak to rest for three to four minutes after brushing it with melted butter. Using any liquids that have gathered on the platter, slice the meat and serve it.
