The 20 Happiest States in 2024:States were ranked by the personal finance website WalletHub according to their degree of satisfaction. The top 20 are listed here.
Achieving happiness is a difficult task. Indeed, less than half of Americans are “very satisfied” with their life, according to a recent Gallup study. Given this, the personal finance website WalletHub examined a number of characteristics related to mental wellness and ranked the states according to their levels of happiness.
WalletHub evaluated the states in three categories—emotional and physical well-being, work circumstances, and community and environment—to determine which ones are the happiest. After that, they identified pertinent metrics for every category.
Examples of elements of mental and physical well-being were “adverse childhood experiences” and “adequate sleep rate.”
First on the list is the Aloha State. Hawaii has the lowest rates of depression in the United States and the highest life satisfaction.
The tropical state boasts the second-best physical health score, with 86% of individuals saying they are in good condition or better, in addition to having gorgeous beaches and beautiful oceans. Hawaii also boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, at 2.8 percent.
Maryland comes in second place with the largest proportion of homes making over $75,000 annually and the lowest unemployment rate at 2.9%. In terms of life happiness, most Marylanders find fulfillment in their work and a strong drive to reach their objectives.
Third position goes to New Jersey. The state is proud of its high rate of relationship satisfaction in addition to its well-known music and art scenes. According to research, people who live in New Jersey have the second-highest number of caring and supporting connections.
Furthermore, the divorce rate among New Jerseyans is at 17%, which is the third lowest in the country.
